Day in the life of….Madeleine Fear – Owner of The Small Furry Hotel

I wake up and check all the animals and then get the girls ready for school and nursery, Dad helps too depending on the hours he is working. I then walk my eldest and some of our dogs to school on the way home I stop to feed the horses and let the dogs have a run. Dad usually drops our youngest at nursery; she is there 3 days a week. On the days my youngest is home, she helps me do all the below including answering emails!!

Once home all rabbits go out in their run and depending on the weather the guinea pigs go out too. I then check the email and update our facebook page, with a cup of tea in one hand. The big clean out takes place every day before the first drop offs or pick ups.

All hutches are cleaned out and fresh water put on all runs and hutches and selected veg. is put in all the runs. Paths are swept, floors washed and any other garden maintenance. I meet any visitors and then check on the phone and emails. Depending on the day I may have a two hour dog training session or I spend some time with my horses.

I then do some tidying up and cleaning in the house before picking up the girls. We feed the horses on the way home and walk home discussing the day. Back home and depending on the time of year the furries are all put back in their hutches with their dinner waiting for them. I then take the girls to their various clubs.

Bed time is then not far off, once in bed Dad goes to work or I go out and run a dog training class for two hours. Then home by 9pm check all animals and check emails, phone and update social media.

Last checks at 10pm and then bed for me.

My life is flexible and I am surrounded by all the things I love. When bad things come my way I deal with them and move on resilience is the key to my life. Enjoy what you have, try not to let things get you down and don’t look too far in the future as you may miss today.

Love your last sentence, ‘don’t look too far in the future or you might miss today’. So true
