How to Encourage Good Study Habits in Your Children

Being successful at school, unfortunately, takes a lot more than being good at a few favourite subjects. Your child will have to adopt good study habits from the beginning to use throughout their education. Exam season and harder stages of their academic journey could prove difficult without them! A Pre Prep School located in London, have suggested the following study habits that they believe should be encouraged in all children.

Organisation:

Being organised is a crucial skill for everyone, most of all students, no matter what their age! Being organised can stop things from slipping through the cracks or being forgotten about. It is an essential life skill that will be relied on in hundreds of situations throughout life.

Study Space:

It’s a good idea to dedicate a special space in your home to schoolwork and studying that is stocked up with all of the appropriate stationery and other equipment. Try to ensure that there are no distractions such as toys or television. The correct lighting and seating are also important to make sure your child doesn’t experience eye strain.

Attitude:

As with a lot of things throughout life, a positive mental attitude is extremely valuable with regard to school and studying. If children and their parents have a pessimistic, negative attitude towards upcoming exams or education in general, then it can be difficult for them to do well. Instead, students should adopt a can-do attitude, know that college homework help is always available and focus on their strengths.

Routine:

Sticking to a routine is a wise choice. It can help make sure that your child understands what to prioritise each day. They need to know that homework comes first, and playtime afterwards. Consistent, smaller study sessions will be far more beneficial than cramming everything the week before a test.
