50 Annoying Phrases You Hear at Work

Although I work from home by myself, I do network a lot on and offline. I mean heck how else would I stay sane! I’ve noticed lately lots of super annoying “buzz words” and useless jargon which quite frankly makes me cross slipping into conversations! One I hear a lot at the moment is “thought leader”! Gah! What does that even mean? (*cough* If you are looking for a thought leader for mums in business or working from home then I’m your gal! *wink wink*) Citrix GoToMeeting have crafted this epic infographic with not one but 50 annoying phrases you hear at work. What is your favourite annoying phrases to hit your workplace?  “Game changer” has to be one of mine but I must admit that “thinking outside the box” is another which makes me shudder and cringe!

I’m also slightly concerned about any office environment that feels the need to use the phrase “Open the Kimono”! Seriously do people say this!? However we all know content is key so if you fancy sharing a giggle over these on Facebook you can reach me at Facebook.com/JoanneDewberry.co.uk. Grab a cuppa and enjoy this infographic.

Some of these I dislike more than others. I guess it depends if I am likely to use it 😉 But yes, some of these a stupid and almost a way to keep people from knowing what you mean – I guess a type of slang, so you can feel “cool” among your peers haha. I usually only use these sorts of phrases if I think my customers would understand them as easily as my colleges. So, “open the kimono” is a no… But “content is king” could be used 🙂

    Thanks for the great infographic
