Do you judge a book by it’s cover???

I don’t have many guilty pleasures when it comes to TV and I don’t watch any reality TV except XFactor.  But as I’m heavily pregnant at the moment I have been known to do a bit more vegging than I normally do. (Shhh don’t tell anyone!)  My indulge this week was the first round of auditions for Britain’s Got Talent.   If you saw it you probably know what I’m going to say …. in walks a slightly overweight, 19 year old, IT engineer,  who proposed to his girlfriend at an all you can eat Chinese.  We all thought it … this was the person we would all be ridiculing.  He introduced himself, sat down to which the hosts discussed how he looked like he was off on a long haul flight .. with Easyjet!  And started to play his guitar and sing …

(http://talent.itv.com/2011/videos/video/watch_auditions-week-1-michael-collings_item_201363.htm – if you haven’t seen it check it out here I can’t seem to embed it on my blog 🙁 )

And surprisingly he was excellent. but should we have been surprised??  So what he didn’t take much time in his appearance?  So what he lives in a caravan park with his pregnant girlfriend??  Why were we all so quick to write him off??

It’s all about first impressions and sadly these really do matter.  Now this isn’t a post about how you should all make sure your glammed up to the nine’s everyday … I certainly am not!!  I barely have time to do my hair most days!  If we take the idea of Michael Collings and the first impressions we made of him … would you want your business to be portrayed in that way?? I would guess at NO!!

Even if your business has been up and running for a while think about your image and branding. Think about how you come across online.
