Last year I had an eye test at Specsavers and discovered I needed glasses which is hardly surprising considering the amount of time I sit writing on a laptop or checking my mobile devises. Our eyes can be something we take for granted. Small businesses rely a lot on modern technology to do everything and because of that we spend a large proportion of our time looking at blue light, so what you might be thinking. Blue light is high frequency and has a bad impact on our eyes but there are a few things you can do to look after your eyes.
What can we do to protect our eyes? :
Even if you don’t wear glasses and are unaware of any problems you should be having regular check ups at the opticians every 2 years. This test is a bit like when you MOT your car, you have an overall eye health check which can detect underlying health problems or changes in your vision. Things you might not even notice in your everyday life. Since I started wearing my glasses for computer work (and have a Needlite daylight lamp in my office), I definitely suffer less with tired eyes at the end of the day.
Take regular breaks and drink plenty of water. Giving your eyes regular breaks from the computer/mobile devices is not only good for your eye health but it also increases productivity.
Get a good nights sleep. Once you become a parent and start learning to live off a limited amount of sleep but in reality a good nights sleep helps will all aliments. Whilst we sleep our body repairs itself and that includes our eyes.

Superfoods such as kale, peas, spinach and my personal favourite Brussel sprouts (not just for Christmas you know) slow down the ageing of your eyes and help keep your eyes in good health? New research reveals those superfoods we should all eat to protect our sight from harmful blue light.
Looks like Kale Smoothies might be the way forward to enjoying our devises and protecting our eye sight. I think my children might be a little disgusted that the majority of super veggies listed are green!
