Are you talking about me? Facebook Tips

The lovely Amanda at Your Executive Secretary posted this picture on Facebook and I’ve been meaning to blog about it for a while. After doing a few tweeks to the Local Epicentre Facebook Page last week for the ladies and seeing their “talking about this” rocket from 8 to 36 in less than 7 days I thought I’d share some wisdom.

Your executive secretary Facebook

Do you ever take the time to look at the “talking about this” number on your Facebook Page? Do you know what this relates too? It tracks the following interactions over a seven day period.

  1. Numbers liking your page
  2. Posting on your timeline
  3. Liking, commenting, sharing posts
  4. Answering a question
  5. RSVP’ing to an event
  6. Tagging your page
  7. Checking in to your page
  8. Liking or sharing a check in deal

How can you increase these interactions and thus increase the “talking about this” number?  Simple – firstly how often are you posting content? Whether that be images, links or status updates?I needs to be frequently at least once a day is the best. Don’t forget to use the Facebook scheduling facility – this has a higher reach than 3rd party apps such as hootsuite/buffer.  Creating content in which followers can interact with is key.

Secondly have a look at your categories. For the Local Epicentre they were under “Local Business” we changed this to cafe, we edited their address from West Moors to Ferndown which Facebook recognised and a bing map has now appeared (directing via the postcode to their exact location). This means their customers can check in to Local Epicentre as a venue (which will be awesome when they hold their monthly seminars to have 20+ people check in at once). Changing to a cafe also opened up the opening hours section on the main information box so at any given time whilst on Facebook you can see if the Local Epicentre is open or closed.  Once the bing map has been accessed the reviews box opens up and customers can leave reviews and a star based rating.

The staff have been encouraging check ins, reviews and  posting more frequently (not quite everyday but better than previous) and already making a huge impact on their page.
