Five Tasks Every Business Should Consider Outsourcing

When many people think of outsourcing, the first thing that comes to mind is large corporations relocating huge amounts of jobs overseas. For most entrepreneurs, through, outsourcing is a regular part running a small business that allows you to better focus on your core competencies. Here are five tasks every business should consider outsourcing, whatever field they work in.

Accounting and Financials :

Hell Yeah! While this may seem like an additional expensive, outsourcing your financial responsibilities to a professional will likely save you money in the long-term. You’ll no longer have to worry about keeping up to date with the latest rules and regulations or meeting deadlines that could otherwise impede your day-to-day work. I.T. and Server Support :

It’s true that modern businesses are more dependent on technology than ever before. Thanks to remote access software, though, you no longer need to have an in-house team dedicated to providing support. Similarly, if you decide to work with a company that operates in another time-zone, you could also benefit from interruption-free system updates.

Administrative Duties :

There is a growing demand for outsourced admin services. If you can’t afford to hire additional personnel, consider partnering with a third-party. Tasks like screening phone calls, making reservations, and proofreading outgoing documents may seem like minor operations, but shifting this workload on to an employee with other responsibilities could quickly result in burn-out.

Design and Marketing :

No matter industry you move in, there is always competition. Standing out from the crowd can be difficult, especially for small businesses. Marketing your products and services in the right way is essential to being successful. With so many different aspects to consider, from content creation to website design and SEO, even companies that have dedicated marketing departments may want to consider outsourcing certain elements.

Record Management :

Even a small startup can quickly start to accumulate a large array of documents. Keeping all of your records in order so that you can efficiently find what you need is a time-consuming and laborious process. By working with a specialist, you can have all of your documents digitized for quick access as well backed-up physically securely. You should always keep at least one off-site back-up, so that you aren’t found wanting in the event of a break-in or natural disaster affecting your premises.

I completely agree Joanne. I have experience of both sides. I outsource my accounts, IT support and website design for my home based greeting card business. I also freelance on a regular basis via People Per Hour. I do market research and analysis for several small businesses. Outsourcing, like you say, gives small businesses more time to focus on their own strengths.

There are few business things I would want to outsource at the moment. I am a relatively small and uncomplicated business. I also like being able to control all areas (what can I say I am a control freak). I would, however, outsource chores like housework and ironing! Definitely not my area of expertise!
