Appy making money

Sponsored post – we were asked to write this post however the views are our own based upon the experience we have encountered using the MusicMagpie app and service.

Back in January I wrote about various ways to make money from your clutter – being a family if 5 we have a lot of clutter!! At the time we had a lot of books that we sold through We Buy Books and I mentioned they also take DVD’s too. We have been clearing out sheds and garages of “just in case” items (you know that box of stuff you hang on to just in case – Justin Case returns for his lost stuff!? …. the hanger with 20 keys to cars you haven’t owned since 2003 – don’t deny it you are a secret hoarder!) and I found a massive box of DVD’s. I really couldn’t be bothered to type in over 100 DVD barcodes and 40 odd CD ones so I downloaded the MusicMagpie app onto my ipad. AHHH it’s amazing!  Who would have thought selling DVD’s for cash could be sooooo simple?!

Firstly I scanned EVERYTHING which took no time at all! However some of the pricing is a little on the cheap side. Some DVD’s only fetching 20p and as it’s now carboot season we decided to split them into saleable (Top Gun, Peppa pig etc…) and niche DVD’s (like the random How to fish and Catherine Cookson ones that mother in law is so fond of!).  The minimum is 10 items maximum 500, free courier for over 25 – this is what we did. I ordered it through the ipad choosing the next available date (I was keen) and then just left the parcel on the doorstep and once it was collected a note was put through my door.  You can be paid via cheque, BACS or e-voucher.

I have been really impressed with the service so far my only gripe would be that …. the parcel was collect 2 weeks ago and although I know they received it (email confirmation from warehouse which did take 5 days from collection) I’ve not actually been paid for the items. I’m not sure really why? I don’t know if they are being tested to check they work? Or if it is because I selected cheque as payment.  However as soon as I am paid or contacted I will update this post.

Please do leave any other suggestions and tips to making money from your clutter on my post over on Charlie Moo’s – I’d love to hear from you 🙂

I’m also really new to the world of apple and apps – I’ve downloaded those instructed to me by my very IT savvy 6 year old (I may teach him to tweet soon!) but what other apps should I have?

Found this useful wondering how you can show me your appreciation? Well, there are some ways you can say thanks and support my website: ➡

I used Music Magpie a couple of years ago for a proper big clear out. I’m not a fan of carboot sales/too plain lazy to do them – much prefer indoor markets ;0) but MM was the easiest way to shift the mountain of dvds. There was a lot of items that went for 30p but it made it worth while when a few came up at £7. They check every item to make sure it works before paying you which I guess is fair enough but they did pay the price they said eventually.
