This might look like a scene from a weird Halloween Party but it’s actually how I spent my Thursday Evening on the 27th October. AND if you follow me on Facebook you spent the time shouting ‘there’s Joanne!‘ at the TV. I (and my other half – Daddy Moo) were lucky enough to be in the audience of BBC Question Time filmed at Winchester Cathedral. The panel included Downton Abbey writer and creator Julian Fellowes; Iain Duncan Smith, the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions; Gloria De Piero, Shadow Home Office Minister; Jo Swinson, Liberal Democrat, and Nigel Farage, leader of UKIP.
Now we do watch BBC Question Time so we knew what we were letting ourselves in for but by golly it had to be the most hard hitting QT EVER!! Talk about intense .. jeez!
I’m not going to bore you with the politics so much .. when I left school I never really knew anything about politics and what I have deemed has been from watching the news, Question Time and discussions with my peers. This was probably my first real experience of actual politicians in the flesh unedited. And it’s funny what you notice.
Iain Duncan Smith … now I’m wondering if his misses had cooked him something yummy for tea as he spent most of the time looking bored, disinterested and as an impressionable women of voting age .. he wasn’t making me tick blue!
Gloria De Piero … she was fighting for the red corner. I’ve watched the debate 3 times now and although she spent a good proportion of time talking she never once actually answered the question she was asked. I just wonder how many of my clients or blog readers would come back regularly if I looked pretty but failed to answer simple questions??
Jo Swinson … Although I do feel that Jo was very articulate and very good at getting her point across. I have a bit of an issue with the Liberal Democrats who I do feel sold out on the majority of their policies in order to be part of the ‘coalition’ government. So enough said there.
Nigel Farage … As much as it pains me to say this … Nigel did actually form the voice of reason. I agreed with a lot of what he had to say and he remained calm, consistent with what he had to say and got straight to the point. He also had a bit of banter with the other panellists rather than a he said she said attitude displayed by some of the others.
so that was my brief character assassination 😉 only joking. In all seriousness if you ever get the chance to be in the audience do it! It’s an amazing experience.Found this useful wondering how you can show me your appreciation? Well, there are some ways you can say thanks and support my website: ➡
