My life was turned upside down 3 years ago when I was made redundant from a role I had held at an events-management company for six years. I was seven months pregnant when I was told and eight months when I left the company. It was a very traumatic time for my husband and I as suddenly I had no job to return to after the birth of my daughter.
So once I was ready to go back to work I started looking for a job but I found it nearly impossible to find something that would give me flexible hours so I could bring my daughter up while making a living.
Financially, I was better off as a result of the redundancy package I received. I decided this was my ‘opportunity’ in life to start my own business (which was something I had always wanted to do but had never had the finance to start it) to provide me the work/life balance that I was striving for.
My twin sister was also pregnant at the time and wanted the same work/life balance so we decided to set up our own online baby gift
business. Molliemoo was launched in 2008 www.molliemoo.co.uk and we sell organic and eco-friendly baby gift boxes, new mum gifts and new baby presents.
It was the best decision my sister and I have ever made and we have not looked back since.
