A few weeks ago my mum and I took a trip to London to the What’s on 4 Me Awards at Earls Court. The event was held among the hustle bustle of the Ideal Home Show. (Which was really odd!) We had a wonder around a bit of the Ideal Home Show grabbed a goody bag (which I regretted when Mum pulled out a bottle of pleasure gel! *cringe*), then made our way to the catwalk, signed in and took a seat.
The What’s On 4 Me Award programme is now in its 4th year and celebrates the best Leisure Activity Providers across the UK as nominated and voted for by the UK public. It also includes categories such as Best Hobby to Business Support – the category my book Crafting a Successful Small Business was up for and Best Networking Group alongside Best Fitness Group, Most Inspirational Coach etc.
I was so excited to be sharing this experience with my mum!
The awards were presented by Lucy Piper who sadly I didn’t get to meet. Although there were 22 categories (yes 22 why were you not there!?) they did manage to get through them pretty fast. However there was a small glitch. Initially my name was read out in the wrong category, leaving my proud mum whopping for joy until I pointed out I knew very little about cosmetic enhancements!
I did my best “shocked” face when my name was called as the Runner Up in my category “Best Hobby to Small Business Support“. I am so thankful and grateful for everyone who took the time to vote for Crafting a Successful Small Business in the awards and Runner Up is amazing!
Back in 2011 weeks after giving birth to my 3rd child, Olive I had a fantastic idea to write a book – as you do! Little did I know that a publisher would jump at the chance to work with me and 3 years later my book is still selling and winning awards.
