Do you find it hard to constantly come up with new content for your business blog?

Do you find it hard to constantly come up with new content for your business blog?

Blogging shouldn’t be a constant battle to create new and engaging posts. Blog post ideas should flow. Ideas should come to you everyday, all day, in everything you do. You should be in the position where you can cherry pick from the constant flow of ideas with no worry about where next week’s blog posts will come from.

How do you get to this point? Well unfortunately I believe it develops over time. Bloggers who’ve been blogging a while will talk of ideas coming to them at the most innapropriate times, ideas even coming at night as they’re trying to sleep!

Although the blogging mindset develops over time there are a few things you can do to help foster the mindset, and one major technique you can use until your blogging mindset had developed!

1. Idea Capturing

You need to have something on you at all times to capture your ideas. I bet you actually get several ideas a day that get lost purely because they aren’t being captured. Whether it’s a simple notebook or a gadget (iPhone, blackberry) have something on you at all times to capture ideas. If a thought comes to you that isn’t a complete idea note it down as I’ve found that on reviewing my ideas the incomplete notes can become something really great. Capture everything!

2. Think Like a Blogger

Everyday, and in every experience you have try and always have your blog topic in the back of your mind. Many things will happen that don’t immediately scream ‘blog post’ but the clues are there and you can put an angle on many incidents or learnings to create a relevant blog post.

3. Stockpile the Evergreen

When the goings good and you’re ‘in flow’. Write, write, write. Then stockpile the posts in drafts for the inevitable slow periods.

Content that never gets old (not tied to dates, seasons, events) is known as ‘evergreen’, try and always keep several evergreen posts in the bank.

Finally, while the blogging mindset develops watch the video below for a content generation technique that will result in forty blog post ideas. The best thing? You can use this technique reapeatedly.
